Welcome to the Dog Riders Society

 

Hi!  You've found my little corner of the web.  You might be asking yourself, what is the Dog Riders Society? Well, almost every child has, at least once in their childhood, tried to ride the family dog like a horse.  Lots of childhood firsts are celebrated -first steps, first words, etc.  I'm commemorating these hilarious family memories.  Below are a few examples.                                                           

                                             

 

                

For those of you wondering just how these priceless moments come to be,  I also plan to include a step-by-step guide on the proper training for both children and dogs.  I stress this, because  (1) the child and dog have to respect each other and trust each other, and (2) it can only be done if the dog wants to do it.   Not all dogs are willing to put up with this.  It depends on the personality and the temperament of the dog.

Teaching a Kid to Ride a Dog

This is my newest addition - a step by step guide for teaching both children and dogs the trick of riding.

I'm looking for people who can and want to share the joy and laughter of these rare and unusual memories by submitting photos, video clips, personal stories, or any combination of the above (especially video clips). My main submission rules for photos and video clips are:
(1) Both the dog and the child should look like they're having a good time.
(2) Neither the dog or the child are hurt, or get hurt.
I will review all materials sent to me, and I will make the final decisions on what appears in the site

I also want to use my site to help to dispel - if only a little - the bad reputations of pit bulls, Rottweilers, German Shepherds, and other breeds that have unfairly gained a "vicious" reputation.  That statement can be backed up with the following report, what can be viewed here .

This is the brainchild and pride and joy of a good friend of mine here in my town.  It's the biggest non-profit reptile rescue and education organization in this county - not to mention the state.  The SHS seeks to not only rescue, rehab, and re-home lost, mistreated, and abused reptiles, but also seeks to educate the public about what's fact and what's fiction concerning snakes, lizards, and other members of the reptile kingdom.

Yahoo Group: K9 Racism Of The Worst Kind

This Yahoo Group is dedicated to stopping the misconceptions of breeds such as Rottweilers, German Shepherds, American Pit Bull Terriers, and other breeds that have unfairly gained a bad reputation because of biased media reports.  They also seek to fight the passing of BSL (Breed Specific Legislation) laws that would ban such dogs from being owned.  They, along with my website, seek to show everyone that the true fault is not with these particular dog breeds - it lies with bad owners who ruin things for the rest of us true, loving dog owners.
